Our Story
A kitchen built on honest sourcing
The Copper & Clay opened in Victoria's Cook Street Village in 2019 with a clear intention: to make people feel genuinely welcome and feed them exceptionally well. Chef Maria Reinholt trained in Copenhagen and Lyon before settling on Vancouver Island, and every dish on our menu reflects her obsession with honest sourcing and unhurried technique. We age our beef in-house, make our pasta by hand each morning, and change the menu with every season.

The braised short rib is the best I have had outside of France. The room is warm, the staff know the menu inside out, and the pacing was perfect. We will absolutely be back.
We celebrated our anniversary here and could not have chosen a better spot. The scallops were incredible and the sommelier paired our wine without being pretentious about it.
The wild mushroom risotto was silky and deeply flavoured. Good to know there is a genuinely excellent plant-forward option. The salted caramel tart at the end was outstanding.
